Italian Ricardo Ricco on Saturday scored
his second stage victory at this year's Giro, when he took the 208
kilometre-long stage from Rivisondoli to Tivoli.
The 24-year-old Saunier rider won a sprint finish in a time of four hours 41.05
minutes, beating compatriots Paolo Bettini of the Quick Step team and
Gerolsteiner's Davide Rebellin.
Another Italian, Giovanni Visconti of the Quick Step team, continues to lead in
the overall standings. He now has a 34 second lead over Germany's Matthias Russ, who rides for Gerolsteiner.
Saturday's stage, which included a 150 kilometre-long flat stretch, was
dominated by a group of five riders who managed to get away from the chasing
pack after 42 kilometres and at one time had a six minute lead.
They were caught with eight kilometres to go, resulting in the sprint finish, dpa reported.
