The Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix and Cannes Film Festival has the south of France buzzing with glamour this weekend, and it's no surprise Renault has chosen the home grown media frenzy to unveil their new Laguna Coupe model. ( WCF )

Following the leaked images, the Laguna Coupe, which was revealed on 24 May in Canne, retains the overall design from the Laguna Concept, however, suffers from the typical "concept to production" homogenization process.

As a result, the Laguna Coupe seems to lose much of its sleekness thanks to the raised roof, shortened wheelbase and high riding suspension which makes the wheels appear as though they barely fill the wheel wells.

The Laguna gets two new V6 engines. The diesel delivers 235hp (173kW) with peak torque of 450Nm while the 3.5 liter petrol powered V6 makes 240hp (175kW), 330Nm of torque. The Laguna Coupe accelerates to 100 km/h in less than seven seconds.

Further details will be released at the Paris Motor show in September.
