FM: "Turkey-EU document satisfactory"

"It is true that certain member countries had exerted efforts to wear down our membership bid but other members and the rotating presidency struggled to preserve Turkey's full membership target, and the paper, as it is, constitutes a satisfactory document for us," Ali Babacan told reporters before his departure for Brussels to participate in a meeting of the Turkey-EU Association Council on Tuesday, reported World Bulletin.

"Continued interference about the word 'accession' at different levels of our negotiation process is disturbing and these obstructions do not comply with the principle of pacta sunt servanda, which is one of the basic principles of the European Union," he said.
