Strong quake rocks northern Philippines

A strong earthquake jolted on Sunday a remote Philippine province but no casualty or damage was reported, a government agency said, dpa reported.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the magnitude 6.3 earthquake was felt strongest at the town of Basco in Batanes province, 560 kilometres north of Manila.

The agency said no damages was reported in areas hit by the earthquake. It added that it was expecting mild aftershocks.
