Unofficial tallies as vote-counting began in Ireland's referendum on the European Union's Lisbon Treaty Friday showed the yes side looking like winning in just 11 of the country's 43 constituencies, reported dpa.

Five of the constituencies predicted to give a yes result are in Dublin and six are in the province of Leinster on Ireland's east coast, the most densely populated part of the country.

The no vote was said to be polling strongly in rural and working class areas.

Official results will be announced in Dublin on Friday afternoon.
