(femalefirst.co.uk) - Leona Lewis is set to record the new James Bond theme.

The British singer is favourite to replace troubled singer Amy Winehouse in lending her vocals to the 22nd spy adventure, 'Quantum of Solace'.

Bond bosses believe Leona is the ideal candidate for the song because she has such a powerful voice.

A source said: "Leona is one of the few candidates who has the right profile in both the US and the UK. The Bond guys now look set on Leona. She is reliable and has a great voice for it. Something could be announced soon."

Leona has become a worldwide star since winning British TV talent show 'The X Factor' in 2006.

Her second single 'Bleeding Love' went to number one in both the UK and US - making her the first British female solo artist to have a number one single in America since Kim Wilde in 1986.

Amy was the original choice for the prestigious honour, but sessions between the hell-raising singer and producer Mark Ronson broke down, with Ronson saying she "wasn't ready to record music."

The 'Rehab' star then went into the studio with producer Salaam Remi, but her managers have since admitted it is "unlikely" she will perform the Bond track.

The source added: "Amy was the original choice, but she hasn't managed to clean up her life."

'Quantum of Solace' starring Daniel Craig as Bond, Gemma Arterton and Dame Judi Dench will be in cinemas worldwide from October.
