Coldplay Top Album Charts In First Week

Coldplay have gone straight in at the top of the album charts with their fourth LP release Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends, the CM reported.

The record has been on sale for only three days following its release on Thursday but has still managed to outsell all its rivals.

Over 300,000 copies have flown off the shelves this week after fans took the chance to sample the band's first venture since X& Y in 2005. That album has sold over 10 million copies to date worldwide.

Neil Diamond's Home Before Dark and Duffy's Warwick Avenue are at numbers two and three in the album chart.

Paul Weller's album 22 Dreams is fourth on the list with the Fratellis in fifth with their latest album Here We Stand.

In the singles charts, Mint Royale remain at the top with Singin' In The Rain, while Rihanna's Take A Bow is at number two. Closer by Ne-Yo is third in the singles ratings.
