Secretary of State of the Holy See, His Eminence Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone hopes that the Pope will be able to pay a visit to Belarus in the relatively near future, reported Belta.
"The Pope receives many invitations from different countries of Europe, Asia, Africa, America. This is why it is difficult to say at the moment when His Holiness Benedict XVI will be able to come to Belarus", the Cardinal explained. "Belarus is a European country, and His Holiness focuses a special attention on it. This is why I believe that the Pope will visit your country as soon as he can."
Tarcisio Bertone hopes that his visit to Belarus is of the same kind as the mission of John the Baptist who prepared the way for Jesus Christ. "I will do my utmost to be the one who would secure the visit of the Pope to Belarus in the nearest future", the Cardinal said.
