French President Nicolas Sarkozy arrived in Russia Tuesday to discuss the crisis in Georgia, reported dpa.
Sarkozy went straight from the airport to the Kremlin to meet his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev.
Medvedev had earlier said that Russian military operations in Georgia had ended.
