Ukrainian President Arrives in France to Participate in Ukraine-EU Summit

Ukraine, Kiev, 9 September / Trend corr. Z.Novosvitskiy / The Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko arrived in France to participate in the 12th Ukraine- European Union (EU) summit to be held in Paris, the Ukrainian Government said. The agenda of this summit includes achievement of agreement on the highest political level to sign new strengthened Ukraine-EU contract on principles of association, as well as to begin dialogue on specifying terms to introduce visa-free regime for the Ukrainian citizens to travel the EU member-countries.

Yushchenko will make a speech at a plenary meeting of the summit, which will focus on key topics of Kiev's cooperation with the EU.

The Ukrainian President will participate in business lunch, where it is planned to discuss the international issues package, particularly concerning situation in Georgia and settlement of the Transdniestria conflict.

Bilateral meeting will be held between the Ukrainian President and his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy within the framework of the summit.

Raisa Bogatireva, secretary of Rada on national security and defense of Ukraine,Vladimir Ogrizko, the Foreign Minister, Nikolay Onishuk, the Justice Minister and Andrey Goncharuk, the deputy head of the Ukrainian President's Secretariat together with the President arrived in the Ukraine-EU summit.
