7 Russian peacekeepers killed in Tskhinvali

Seven Russian peacekeepers were killed Friday by a bomb apparently planted in a car in the South Ossetian capital of Tskhinvali, the Russian Defense Ministry told CNN.

Eight people were injured in the blast, which occurred about 4 p.m. (8 a.m. ET), the defense ministry said, adding that no one was found in the car and the incident was under investigation.

The president of South Ossetia, a breakaway Georgian province, blamed the bombing on їGeorgian special services,ї the Russian news agency Interfax reported.
