Union State Council of Ministers to convene in Minsk October 6

Over 20 key issues of the Belarusian-Russian integration have been included to the agenda of a session of the Council of Ministers of the Union State. The session will take place in Minsk on October 6, BelTA learnt from the Union State Permanent Committee.

Among the issues that are set to be discussed are Belarus-Russia trade and economic cooperation, the Union State assets accounting, assessment and management, the Union State budget, the Union State common sci-tech zone, efficient functioning of the regional force of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, creation of the Union State single information space 2007-2010, the Union State draft sci-tech programmes.

The session will review trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Belarus in H1 2008. The agenda includes issues aimed at its intensification.

"Belarus and Russia welcome the Union State programmes and projects in all the areas. The Union State draft budget 2009 submitted for the consideration of the Union State Council of Ministers testifies to the fact. The Union State budget is 20% bigger comparing with 2008 to nearly RUR 5 billion," the Permanent Committee said.

The Union State Council of Ministers will discuss proposals on several sci-tech programmes. Among them are the programmes related to the development of technologies and pilot production of highly efficient and biologically safe medicines and transgenic milk baby food, nanotechnologies for construction of space materials, devices and systems.

"The forthcoming session of the Union State will add new impetus to the integration process and pave the way for the adoption of the most important decisions that can be submitted for consideration of the Union State Supreme State Council", the Permanent Committee said.
