Afghanistan, Kabul, 18 October / corr / Trend A.Hakimi/ Kandahar elder gunned down while leaving mosque after morning prayers
GUNMEN have shot and killed a tribal elder and his son in the southern province of Kandahar, a spokesman for the provincial governor said.
Ali Ahmad Khan Barekzai was killed with his son by two men riding motorcycles who opened fire on the pair as they left a mosque in Kandahar City's 4th district on Saturday, spokesman Zalmai Ayoobi said.
The tribal elder's son, Gul Ahmad, is believed to be one of President Karzai's former bodyguards.
No one has claimed responsibility for the murders
