Jets bomb rebels' training camp in volatile north

The Sri Lankan military says fighter jets bombed a Tamil Tiger rebels' training camp and logistics facility deep in the northern jungles, the Associated Press reported.

Air force spokesman Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara says they launched airstrikes on a training camp and logistic facility of the Tamil Tigers deep in the jungles in northern Mullaitivu district early Sunday.

Nanayakkara did not provide details of damage or casualties.

There was no immediate comment from rebels.

The conflict since 1983 has killed more than 70,000 people.
