State media says the death toll from a mine explosion in northern China earlier this week rose to 24, with the discovery of one more body early Sunday, the Associated Press reported.
According to the official Xinhua News Agency, the blast occurred Oct. 29 at the Yaotou mine in Shaanxi province's Chengcheng County, trapping 36 miners in an underground shaft.
The report said, citing local officials, said seven miners managed to escape, but five others remain missing.
China's mining industry is among the world's deadliest.
