Fire burns homes in northern Los Angeles

A brush fire has burned at least three homes and is threatening dozens of others in northern Los Angeles, at the southern edge of the Angeles National Forest, reported AP.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Melissa Kelley says the fire was reported Friday night at a park in Sylmar in the San Fernando Valley. She says it has burned up to 75 acres.

Television news footage shows at least homes engulfed in flames.

Los Angeles County is under a red flag warning of gusty winds and extreme fire danger until Saturday afternoon. The National Weather Service says winds are gusting up to 60 mph in the Sylmar area.
