Ukrainian Parliament Fails to Launch Speaker Election Process Today

Ukraine, Kiev, November 18/ Trend , corr Z. Novosvitskiy / The Parliament of Ukraine failed to examine the issue of election of chairman for the Parliament on November 18.   

An interval was announced in the Parliament since the morning after which the MPs made a change in the schedule. Thus, on November 18 and 19 they will work in the committees and on November 20 at 10:00 a.m. a plenary session would be launched. This week the Parliament was to work in the session regimes.

According to Alexander Lavrinovich, deputy chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament, today MPs and government submitted some anti-crisis programs to the Parliament. As the chairman has not been elected yet, it would be appropriate to work on the anti-crisis programs within the committees.

Only chairman of Supreme Rada has a right to approve laws adopted by the parliament which later are introduced to President to sign them.

On November 12 Arseniy Yatseniuk, chairman of the Parliament, was dismissed from his post. The dismissal was upheld by 175 MPs from the faction of Party of Regions, one from the Julia Tymoshenko Block, 10 from Our Ukraine- National Self-Defence, 27 from the Communist Party and 20 from Litvin's block.
