Hoffenheim forward Vedad Ibisevic, the Bundesliga's leading scorer with 18 goals, is set to be out of action for ligament injury in his right knee revealed on Wednesday.
The Bosnian striker contributed a lot in promoted Hoffenheim to the top of the Bundesliga standings halfway into the championship, Xinhua reported.
Ibisevic was injured during Hoffenheim's 2-0 loss in a friendly in Spain against Bundesliga rival Hamburger SV. Both teams are preparing for the second half of the season, which starts at the end of the month.
"After the initial examinations, which are only preliminary, it seems that the anterior right ligament is partially torn," Hoffenheim coach Ralf Rangnick said Wednesday.
Ibisevic will fly to Germany on Thursday to be examined at the university clinic in Heidelberg.
