Heavy snowfalls in Austria caused large-scale
power cuts in Austria on Wednesday, while the country's railway connection with
Slovenia remained interrupted, dpa reported.
Some 10,000 homes in the Styria province were without electricity, as
snow-laden trees had toppled onto power lines, public broadcaster ORF reported.
After fallen trees also damaged the train line between the Austrian town of Graz and the Slovenian town of Maribor, passengers travelling on that route would have to
use buses until Thursday evening, a spokeswoman of Austrian railway company
OeBB said.
