Thousands of animals burned out alive near Iranian lake Parishan

Thousands of tortoises and other animals were burned out alive near Iranian lake Parishan for the last two months, Mehr Iranian news agency reported.

Employees of the Iranian Ministry of Transport burned out canes around the lake near the village for the last two months to lay a road to Parishan village. Thousands of tortoises, birds, snakes and other animals living near the lake were annihilated. Fire took place in 30 hectare area, witnesses said.

According to the information, employees of the Iranian Ministry of Transport purposely have burned out the territory around the lake to lay a road between Shahringan and Parishan villages since 2008. So, 20 hectare area was burned out in 2008 but 8 hectare area in 2009. As a result of fire all animals perished burned out alive.

The Iranian Ministry of Transport reported that fire took place in 800 square meter territory to reduce consequences of fire.

Distance between Shakhrinjan and Parishan villages is about five kilometers. As Parishan village is situated in highlands, employees of the Ministry faced difficulties to lay a road.
