Roadside bomb kills 3 Afghan police

A roadside bomb struck a police van killing three police and wounded three others in Ghazni province south of Afghanistan on Sunday, provincial police chief Mohammad Zaman said.

"The gruesome incident occurred in Qalai Rozi area outside provincial capital Ghazni city today at 11:p.m. when police were on patrol, leaving three policemen dead and three others injured," Zaman told Xinhua.

Meantime, Taliban purported spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack from an undisclosed locations and said six police were killed in blast.

Taliban insurgents fighting the Afghan government have vowed to intensify attacks mostly in the shape of suicide and roadside bombings this year.
