Injured Heskey to miss England's World Cup clash with Ukraine

Striker Emile Heskey will miss England's World Cup qualifying match against Ukraine on Wednesday because of injury, dpa reported.

The Aston Villa man suffered a hamstring problem just after scoring England's first goal in the 4-0 friendly win over Slovakia on Saturday.

With Carlton Cole and Peter Crouch also suffering injuries against Slovakia, England manager Fabio Capello had already called up Darren Bent as cover, and may now bring in another striker, even though Crouch is expected to be fit.

Capello said Michael Owen and Kevin Davies were not viable options because they have not played enough recently.

"Owen played 20 minutes in his last game, it is not enough, and it would not be Kevin Davies either," the Italian said.

Capello should be able to welcome back defender Rio Ferdinand, while Shaun Wright-Phillips has resumed training.

England are top of their qualifying group with four wins out of four.
