Canada added 218 new cases of A/H1N1 flu during Thursday and Friday, bringing the country's total to 1, 336, according to the latest figures from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), Xinhua reported.
The outbreak has spread to the sparsely-populated northern Territory of Nunavut, which reported its first case on Friday. The person has preexisting medical conditions, local health officials said.
Out of Canada's 10 provinces and three territories, 9 provinces and 2 territories now have reported infection cases.
The Province of Ontario added 131 new cases, bringing its total to 626, which is by far the most among the provinces. Health officials said despite the surge, most cases are mild.
Quebec's total now stands at 253, followed by Saskatchewan at 123, British Columbia at 122 and Alberta at 121.
As of Friday, 47 hospitalizations and two deaths have been reported among laboratory-confirmed cases, the PHAC said.
