106 new A/H1N1 cases confirmed in Europe

A European health agency said Wednesday that 106 new A/H1N1 flu cases were reported in European countries within the last 24 hoursç Xinhua reported.

Of the new cases, 84 were confirmed in Britain, ten in France, six in Germany,  two in Ireland, one respectively in Austria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said in its daily situation report.

The total number of confirmed cases of the A/H1N1 flu virus in the EU (European Union) and EFTA (European Free Trade Association) countries rose to 711, with 180 cases in Spain and 339 in Britain, 42 in France and 37 in Germany, the ECDC said.

One of the newly confirmed cases in Germany was probably infected in the UK , the ECDC added.

The ECDC publishes a daily situation report about A/H1N1 flu cases in the EU and EFTA countries based on official information from these countries.
