Shootout kills 16 gunmen, 2 soldiers in Mexican seaside resort

Sixteen gunmen and two soldiers were killed in a battle between the military and the men in the Mexican resort and port city of Acapulco, the defense ministry said Sunday, according to Xinhua.
   Seven soldiers and two bystanders were injured in the shootout that occurred Saturday night when the gunmen opened fire after the military acted on an anonymous tip about the gunmen in the city's hotel zone, a ministry statement said.
   The fight last till Sunday morning. The military arrested five gunmen, seized 36 rifles, 13 handguns, two grenade launchers, 13 fragmentation grenades, 3,525 shells, 180 magazines and eight vehicles.
   Some 320 soldiers have been deployed searching homes for gunmen across the city, where organized crime has been gaining around in recent years.
