Explosion in Pakistan's Peshawar, one killed

An explosion took place in northwestern Pakistan's Peshawar city on Monday and one person was killed, private Geo TV channel reported.
  
It was a blast triggered by a remote control bomb in Akhund Baba area and a security forces' mobile van was targeted, said the report, Xinhua reported.
  
Abdul Ghafoor, Senior Superintendent of Police of Operations in Peshawar, capital of North West Frontier Province (NWFP), confirmed that one security man was killed in the blast.
  
He said that nine suspects had been arrested after the blast.
  
Security forces and government institutions especially the police offices are attacked across the country as a major military operation is going on in the northwest.
  
Security forces launched the operation in Swat valley and other districts of NWFP against militants late April. More than 1,300 militants have been killed in the operation.
