Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega said on Sunday that all of Central America's presidents would meet in Nicaraguan capital Managua later in the day to discuss the crisis in Honduras that followed the early Sunday coup d'etat, Xinhua reported.
He said he had called the emergency meeting of the Central American Integration System (SICA) heads of state who aim to " fight back the forces of resistance" to Manuel Zelaya, the nation' s elected president who was kidnapped and forced onto a place to Costa Rica in the early hours of Sunday.
Speaking to media on arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica's capital earlier on Sunday, Zelaya told media that "dark forces from the past" had caused the coup and he was forced to go out of his home in his pyjamas.
Zelaya was seized just hours before a non-binding referendum on a proposed Constitutional Assembly was due to begin, Zelaya's private secretary told media. The assembly was to draw up a new constitution for Honduras.
