Cristiano Ronaldo was given a rapturous reception by 80,000 fans in Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Monday night, Xinhua reported.
Real Madrid's home ground was packed to the rafters by supporters, some of whom had waited outside since the early morning for the 9pm presentation, to see the unveiling of the most expensive football player in the World.
An estimated 5,000 had to content with watching on a big television screen outside of the stadium, because there was no room for them inside.
Ronaldo cost 95 million Euros from Manchester United and he is the third of the club's summer signings to be presented by club President Florentino Perez.
Real Madrid has already presented Brazilian playmaker Kaka and former Valencia defender Raul Albiol to the fans.
The side that finished second in Spain, behind FC Barcelona last season, has also signed Karim Benzema from Olympique Lyon for a further 36 million Euros.
Madrid is now thought to be looking to sign Bayern Munich winger Frank Ribery, as well as Liverpool's Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa.
Ronaldo arrived at the private Torrejon airport on Monday morning and was taken away from his club medical, which he passed with no problems around lunchtime.
"I am very happy to be here, it has fulfilled my childhood dream of playing for Real Madrid, but I never expected a welcome like this," said Ronaldo after being welcomed by Perez.
The next player to be presented will be Benzema, who will meet his new fans on Thursday.
