Pakistan's security forces killed two militants and apprehended 24 others in the continued search and clearance operations in northwest Pakistan's Swat and Malakand districts during the last 24 hours, the army said Wednesday, Xinhua reported.

The army said in a daily update that the security forces conducted search operation at Jambil, Kachche Kor near Mingora, the main town in Swat, and killed two militants.

Eight militants surrendered themselves to the security forces at Bar Shaur and one surrendered at Mingora, said the statement.

Meanwhile, the information minister of the North West Frontier Province said that the situation in Malakand has much changed and thinking of masses has turned against the militants.

He said the government action against terrorists is still underway. The government will take every possible action to crush the militants where ever it trace them, he added.

On relief activities, the army said, so far 281,220 cash cards have been distributed amongst the internally displaced persons ( IDPs) of Malakand.

Over 1,600 militants have been killed since Pakistani security forces launched the military operation against Taliban militants late April after militants in early April entered the Buner district from the neighboring Swat district and refused to vacate the area despite their pledge to do so.
