Afghan National Army (ANA) backed by the NATO-led troops have killed two Taliban militants and detained three others in different provinces during two separate operations, said a statement of the Defense Ministry issued here on Saturday, Xinhua reported.
"ANA and NATO-led troops during two joint operations carried out in different parts of the country on Friday, eliminated two rebels and arrested three others,"the statement said.
One of those militants killed, according to the press release was a Taliban local commander Mullah Hadayat in Wardak province 40 km west of capital city Kabul.
A number of arms and ammunitions, including a heavy machine gun, two Kalashnikovs and some grenades, were also seized by the troops, it added.
In separate operations a day earlier on Thursday, 12 more suspected insurgents believed to be responsible for anti- government activities were detained from southern Zabul and Paktika provinces.
