Fifteen people froze to death throughout Poland on Saturday in the bitter cold wave which has swept across the region, police officials reported Sunday in Warsaw.
With the latest deaths, it brought to 57 the number of people who had died in Poland from exposure since early December, dpa reported.
A police spokeswoman, disclosing the casualties from the minus-20 degrees conditions, appealed to people to come to the aid of the homeless and those who were drunk on the street.
"In such cases nobody should simply pass on by," she said. "They should inform the authorities."
