Auto accident claims 27 lives in Nigeria
At least 27 people were confirmed dead in a fatal road mishap in Lamurde in northern Nigeria's Adamawa State, local media reported on Saturday.
Habu Dauda, state commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), told reporters that the incident occurred on Wednesday at about 9:30 p. m. local time when a truck driver lost control at a sharp bend and entered a gully, Xinhua reported.
Dauda said 20 of the occupants were confirmed dead on the spot, including women and children.
Passengers who sustained fatal injuries were taken to the Numan local government general hospital. where additional seven people passed away, he added.
The victims had already been given mass burial at Lamurde.
The road official advised the people to avoid night journey for safety and contact the command whenever accident occurred.
