The death toll from the earthquake that devastated Chile and triggered a tidal wave in the country's southern coastal region has risen to 708, President Michelle Bachelet said on Sunday, dpa reported.
The magnitude 8.8 quake, which struck in the early hours of Saturday morning, was the worst to hit South American nation in half- a-century.
Authorities said around 2 million homes were damaged.
