US President Barack Obama will welcome Haitian President Rene Preval to the White House next week, almost two months after an earthquake devastated much of the impoverished Caribbean nation.
The two leaders will likely meet Wednesday morning before Obama heads to St Louis, Missouri, to discuss health care reform, according to the weekly White House schedule released Friday. No further details on the meeting were provided.
The United States has been spearheading recovery and rebuilding efforts since the 7-magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on January 12.
An international donors conference for Haiti's recovery is slated for March 31 at the United Nations in New York.
