Spain has raised its anti-terrorism alert level ahead of the Easter holidays, media reported Tuesday.
The Interior Ministry said police had raised their level of preparedness from a "low" to a "high intensity" risk of a terrorist attack occurring dpa reported.
The change of alert level was attributed to the killing of a French police officer by suspected members of the militant Basque separatist group ETA near Paris last week.
It was also linked with the nearness of the Easter holidays, during which ETA has previously carried out attacks.
The higher alert level was to be maintained at least until the end of the Spanish European Union presidency on June 30
