US House approves final changes to health care bill

The US House of Representatives on Thursday approved one last round of changes to a health care overhaul, ending a year-long bitter debate and sending the last pieces of the landmark legislation to President Barack Obama's desk for signature.

The 220-207 vote in the House came after the US Senate approved the same measure earlier Thursday. The votes marked the last step in a complicated set of procedural manoeuvres that have played out in a bid to get Obama's top domestic priority through Congress, dpa reported.

Obama on Tuesday already signed into law the dramatic overhaul of the country's health care system that aims to provide nearly all Americans with access to at least some form of health insurance. The president will give another signature on the new set of changes.
