Russia hopes that Armenia and Turkey will overcome the present difficult situation and create conditions for full normalization of relations, in which all states in the region are interested in, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Andrei Nesterenko believes, the Ministry reported.

"We state that Armenia and Turkey at this stage failed to reach a result that would restore relations between the two neighboring states and, thus, improve the political atmosphere in the Caucasus, creating the preconditions for stability in this region" - said in the report.

Turkish and Armenian foreign ministers Ahmet Davutoglu and Edward Nalbandian signed the Ankara-Yerevan protocols in Zurich Oct. 10.  President Serzh Sargsyan suspended the ratification of the Armenia-Turkey protocols April 23.

Diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey have been frozen due to Armenia's claims of an alleged genocide and its occupation of Azerbaijani lands. The border between them has been closed since 1993.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan's message to people says that Armenia has decided not to leave the process of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations yet, but only suspend the ratification of the protocols. The Armenian President said that national interests require it.
