Clinton arrives in China

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has arrived in China as tensions run high in the region over accusations that North Korea sank a South Korean warship on March 26, Press TV reported.

Clinton is expected to try to convince Beijing to join in international condemnation of North Korea for the sinking of the vessel since any action against Pyongyang at the United Nations would require China's backing.

The sinking of the South Korean ship has caused a major dispute in the region.

North Korea has once again denied the accusations that its forces sank the warship, saying Washington and Seoul are both pushing for war.

Clinton has condemned the sinking of the South Korean ship and blamed Pyongyang for the attack on the naval vessel that killed 46 sailors.

Clinton, who is making a three-day visit to Beijing, said on a stop-over in Tokyo that North Korea will face "consequences."
