Fabio Cannavaro, the world champion captain of the Italian national team, has signed a two-year contract with Al-Ahli, the web site of the Dubai club reported Wednesday.
Cannavaro, 36, is currently training for the World Cup the Azzurri play as title holders in South Africa beginning June 11. His contract with Serie A giants Juventus had expired in May, DPA reported.
The career of the star defender topped in 2006, when he lifted Italy's fourth World Cup and received the Ballon d'or and the FIFA world player awards.
He played with Napoli, Parma, Inter Milan and Real Madrid and is Italy's most capped player on 132 appearces for the Azzurri.
