Los Angeles judge orders arrest of Lindsay Lohan for violation of probation terms

A Beverly Hills Superior Court judge has ordered on Tuesday the arrest of "Mean Girls" star Lindsay Lohan after the actress had reportedly violated the terms for her probation with the electronic monitor she was required to put on went off on Sunday night, Xinhua reported.
"She was in violation of the conditions of her bail, so her bail is forfeited," the judge said after emerging from a half-hour session in her chambers with Lohan's attorney and a prosecutor.
Lohan was not present at the hearing.
Lohan's "SCRAM" anklet went off on Sunday night when she was attending the MTV Movie Awards in Universal City, Los Angeles, news reports said.
Revel said that an alcohol-monitoring device, or "SCRAM," that Lohan was ordered last month to wear detected something indicating the actress had violated the terms of her 100,000-U.S. dollar bail.
She set a new bail of 200,000 dollars for five misdemeanor counts of violating her probation, meaning the actress will be able to remain out of jail if she posts the higher amount. Lohan is due back in court on July 6 in Beverly Hills for a hearing on those five charges.
Under those terms, Lohan was barred from drinking alcohol or using drugs.
The bracelet checks for traces of alcohol in the air above the user's skin. Any effort to tamper with the 10-ounce device immediately sends out an alert.
The monitoring company reports to the Los Angeles County Probation Department and Revel who is hearing Lohan's case.
In a May 24 court hearing, Revel ordered 23-year-old Lohan not to drink any alcohol and required her to wear the monitoring device. The actress was also ordered to undergo random drug testing in California and attend once-weekly alcohol education classes.
The actress has been on probation in the wake of two car incidents in 2007. She crashed a 12-cylinder Mercedes-Benz on Sunset Boulevard on May 26, 2007 while intoxicated, and also pleaded guilty to cocaine use in an arrest in Santa Monica on July 24 of the same year.
