US drone strike kills 3 in Pakistan
A fresh US drone attack has killed at least three people and wounded several others in a tribal area in northwest Pakistan, officials say.
According to Pakistani security officials, a drone fired two missiles east of Miranshah in North Waziristan on Thursday. They say a house was the target of the attack, Press TV reported.
The United States claims its drone attacks target militants. But it is mainly civilians who are the victims.
Since August 2008, nearly one thousand people have lost their lives in nearly 100 raids by American pilotless planes.
The issue of civilian casualties has strained relations between Islamabad and Washington.
Islamabad has repeatedly protested the strikes because they violate the country's sovereignty.
The raids, initiated by former US President George W. Bush, have been escalated by President Barack Obama.
