A celebration of South Korea's advance into the knock-out phase of the World Cup led to a death Wednesday in the East Asian country, dpa reported.
A 20-year-old college student drowned when four friends leaped into the Han River in Seoul to celebrate South Korea making it through to the round of 16 after drawing 2-2 against Nigeria Tuesday in South Africa, the national Yonhap News Agency reported.
The student, who was only identified by his family name, Lee, was pulled from the water 15 minutes later and was pronounced dead in hospital, Yonhap said, citing police.
