Reports: Barcelona about to sell Toure and buy Mata

Spanish football champions Barcelona are poised to sell Yaya Toure and buy Juan Mata, according to Spanish press reports on Wednesday.

The midfielder Toure will probably be sold to Manchester City for around 30 million euros (36.88 million dollars), according to Sport and other newspapers, DPA reported.

This would be excellent business for Barca because they only paid AS Monaco 9 million euros for him in 2007. He made a good start at the Camp Nou but in the past two seasons - when Barca have enjoyed massive success - he has been displaced by youngster Sergio Busquets.

Toure, 27, is currently playing for Ivory Coast at the World Cup. Neither club has yet made an official announcement about the transfer.

Outgoing Barca president Joan Laporta, who will hand over to Sandro Rosell on July 1, is poised to spend most of the Toure money on Valencia forward Mata.

According to Sport and Marca on Wednesday, Valencia have agreed to sell the youngster to Barca for around 20 million euros.

Mata, 22, joined Valencia from the Real Madrid nursery team in 2007 and was important when Los Ches won the Spanish cup in 2008, with his goals and crosses from the left.

Mata, who is in the Spanish World Cup squad, is not a classical winger but will probably be used by Barca out on the left. He will take the place in the Barca squad of veteran Thierry Henry, who will almost certainly leave this summer.

Valencia, who are heavily in debt, might also sell fellow Spain striker David Silva to profligate Manchester City. They have already sold David Villa to Barca, for around 40 million euros.
