The fans of Spanish champions Barcelona are confident about their club signing Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal, according to an online poll published on Saturday, DPA reported.

The poll, which registered 13,060 votes, was conducted by Catalan sports daily Mundo Deportivo, which is mostly read by Barca fans.

The newspaper asked readers when they thought Fabregas would sign for Barca. Fifteen per cent said they believe the transfer will go through before the end of July, while 46 per cent said it would take place in August. Around 38 per cent said they believed the deal would not go through at all.

Fabregas' return to Barcelona - which he left at the age of 15 to sign for Arsenal - has become one of this summer's soap operas in European football.

Arsenal appear less determined to hold on to their 23 year-old captain than a few weeks ago, as Fabregas continues to make it clear that he would like to return to the Camp Nou.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Fabregas has decided to cut his post-World Cup holiday short to fly back to London in a bid to convince Arsenal manager Atsene Wenger to let him sign for Barca.

The newspapar predicted that Florentino Perez, president of rivals Real Madrid, would try to "torpedo" Barca's signing of Fabregas, because he is "worried about the prospect of a long hegemony" for Barcelona.

Fabregas has made it clear that he will only leave Arsenal in order to sign for Barca, not for Real.

Sport, the rival paper to Mundo Deportivo, meanwhile reported that Wenger is "beginning to resign himself" to Fabregas leaving, and is now concerned with getting as much money as possible from the sale - and also possibly a couple of youngsters from the Barca nursery side as part of the deal.
