Indonesian police arrested five suspected Islamic militants in West Java during a crackdown against terrorism, media reports said Sunday, dpa reported.

Authorities captured two men at a rented house in the regional capital of Bandung on Saturday. They were suspected members of a terrorist group formerly led by Malaysian-born Noordin M Top, provincial police chief Inspector General Sutarman said.

He said police safely detonated explosives found inside the house. One man and two women were also apprehended in Subang, just north of Bandung, Kompas.com online news portal reported.

Noordin was killed along with three accomplices in a raid in Central Java province in September. His Malaysian lieutenant, Azahari bin Husin, was killed in a shootout by anti-terror police in his East Java hideout in 2006.

Noordin and Azahari were blamed for masterminding several attacks including the October 2002 Bali bombings that killed at least 202 people - mostly foreign tourists.
