Denmark came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Germany in an international friendly played in Copenhagen on Wednesday, dpa reported.

Goals by Mario Gomez and Patrick Helmes gave Germany, who finished third at the World Cup last month, a two-goal lead, but Dennis Rommedahl, who was earning his 100th cap and Mads Junker equalized for the home side.

German coach Joachim Loew said that he was satisfied with the game. "On the whole, it was acceptable. I saw that the team tried to be well organized and create chances.

"I saw several points on which we can build. I could really not expect much more," he said.

Loew started the match with only Jerome Boateng from the side that played in the third-place play-off at the World Cup, but it was the visitors who took the lead in the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen in the 20th minute.

After the Danish defence failed to clear a ball, stand-in captain Thomas Hitzlsperger feigned a shot, but instead sent a pass through the Danish defence to Gomez, who made no mistake from close range to beat goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen.

Loew said that he was particularly pleased the Bayern Munich striker found the net. "That will boost his confidence."

Germany went further ahead in the 73rd minute when substitute Helmes was set up by Christian Gentner and the Bayer Leverkusen striker scored with a shot into the left corner from 13 metres.

The German defence then gifted the Danes two goals.

A minute after Germany had scored their second Rommedahl managed to intercept a terrible pass from German defender Serdar Tasci and the Olympiacos striker ran a few steps towards the German goal before beating Tim Wiese.

Three minutes from the end, it was Wiese who allowed the home side to score when he tried to control a long ball towards the German area with his chest, only to see the ball bounce to Danish substitute Junker, who had a simple task of scoring into the empty net to make the final score 2-2.

Gomez said that the side should have held on for a victory. "With the score 2-0, we should not let them come back. The team will never play in that formation again and for that it was a good performance."
