A Viennese couple are threatening to sever their ties with the Catholic Church after a priest forgot to appear at their wedding, the daily Heute reported Friday, dpa reported.
Iris and Tobias Dominic and 150 guests waited in vain for the clergyman, who was scheduled not only to wed them but also to baptize their baby boy.
Church spokesman Erich Leitenberger said he was "endlessly sorry" on behalf of the priest, who had been so busy dealing with a death in his community that he missed the appointment.
The costs for the ceremony would be refunded, the spokesman promised.
