A deputy chief of a border outpost went missing in Russia's North Caucasus Republic of Dagestan, his driver was found dead, a local police source said, RIA Novosti reported.
The two men left the outpost on Saturday evening driving an UAZ off-road vehicle.
"The dead body of the driver was found near the road on Sunday... The search for the officer is ongoing," the source said.
According to Russian media reports, the driver's throat was cut. The vehicle and government-issued weapons were missing.
