Russian President Dmitry Medvedev during his visit to Azerbaijan on 2-3 September will discuss the bilateral economic and trade collaboration, and cooperation between the parties in the Caspian Sea, Russian presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko told reporters on Wednesday, RIA Novosti reported.

According to him, on the visit is expected to be signed an agreement on state border and inter-governmental agreement on the rational use and protection of water resources of transboundary river of Samur.

"The Treaty is designed to consolidate the line of the state border from the point of junction of borders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Georgia to the Caspian Sea" Prikhodko said, adding that Russia is the first country with which Azerbaijan has signed the treaty on the state border.

Speaking about the agreement on water resources, the presidential aide stressed that the document provides for the establishment of Russian-Azerbaijani commission, which will implement the joint management of water distribution of Samur water on a parity basis.

"These documents are fundamental for the further development of the strategic partnership between our countries and make a real contribution to strengthening security and stability in the Caucasus" Prikhodko said.

According to him, significant attention will be given to the issues of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Prikhodko also informed that among the topics to be discussed bilateral cooperation in the Caspian Sea, natural resources, environmental protection, issues of regional cooperation of border regions, cooperation in oil and gas sector, as well as investment cooperation.

With regard to international issues, the talks would address the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as international cooperation in the Caspian Sea, said Prikhodko.

Speaking about the program of the visit of the head of state, Prikhodko said that on the first day of stay in Baku, Medvedev will lay wreaths at the tomb of Heydar Aliyev, as well as the monument to fallen heroes. On the same day the president of Russia will take part in the official dinner on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev.

On Friday, September 3, two heads of state to hold talks in Baku - first in a narrow format, and then with the participation of delegations of the two countries. Negotiations will be completed with the signing of documents.

Dmitry Medvedev will visit Baku State University, where he will be awarded the diploma of honorary doctor.

The Russian head of state during the visit will be accompanied by his aide Sergei Prikhodko, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Khloponin, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko, the heads of several regions, including Dagestan and Ingushetia, as well as several representatives of Russian business, including the head of Gazprom Alexei Miller.
