A car bomb attack on a busy marketplace in the Russian city Vladikavkaz, capital of North Ossetia, left at least five people dead on Thursday, according to the Itar-Tass news agency.

A car bomb attack on a busy marketplace in the Russian city Vladikavkaz, capital of North Ossetia, left at least five people dead on Thursday, according to the Itar-Tass news agency.

Several dozen people were injured in the blast, from a car packed with 10 kilogrammes of TNT explosive, according to the health ministry of the Republic of North Ossetia.

Neighbouring republics of Dagestan and Chechnya have seen repeated attacks by Islamist separatists.
